Samantha and Nellie’s Northwoods Adventures
As I’ve already mentioned, last weekend Samantha, Nellie, Kaya, and I went to my family’s Cottage in Northern Wisconsin! 🌲 Samantha had visited the Cottage with me when I was little, but a lot had changed since she (and I) had last been there; and this was Nellie’s first time ever! Sam described it to her as being like a smaller version of Piney Point, where Nellie had joined her and Grandmary on vacation after being adopted into the family. I already shared photos of what Kaya did up North, so now here’s Sam and Nellie’s Northwoods adventures!
We left in the afternoon, but the drive to the Cottage is four hours(!), so it was already evening by the time we got there. In keeping with Cottage traditions, I rang the loud, clanging ship’s bell 🔔 that’s mounted on a pole near the door to announce our arrival to the forest and the few neighboring cabins. That first night, we really only had time to unpack and get settled before going to bed.
The girls were so excited they stayed up late into the night, snuggled into their sleeping bags, talking in low tones and giving the occasional hushed giggle.
Despite the late night, we awoke bright and early for the first full day.
Breakfast somehow tastes especially delicious when eaten in a cabin by a wide window with a lakeside view.
After breakfast, I was mainly occupied with taking the pictures of Kaya and swimming 🏊, so the two girls were left to their own devices for most of the day, but Nellie did join my mother, stepfather, and me on the pier later on.
Nellie stood on the pier, staring out at the bright blue sky over the deeper blue of the waters.
We also discovered a perfectly doll-sized chair that matched the bigger ones, so of course I had to take advantage of that!
She relaxed in the chair in the warm early evening sunlight, listening to the waves lap at the wooden planks.
The next day, I was so exhausted that I ended up sleeping into the early afternoon, and by the time I woke up the sunshine had been replaced by a wet, cloudy sky. Samantha passed the time painting 🎨 on the deck (Virginia had kindly allowed her to borrow her paints and easel) until it began raining 🌧️ in earnest.
The gray day was a little disheartening, but Samantha made the best of it with Virginia’s borrowed paint set (though she did have to duck inside with the painting still unfinished when the occasional light spotting of rain turned into a regular drizzle).
After it began to pour, we went back inside and made popcorn 🍿 before retiring early.
The last day seemed to sneak up on us before we knew it. It started out gray again, but Sam and Nellie decided to take a walk with Jip 🐕 anyway, and while they were playing ball the sun came out again.
Jip was full of energy, so they decided to tire him out with a game of keep-away. Sam and Nellie tossed the bright red ball back and forth, Jip running back and forth between them, following the ball’s progress and occasionally leaping up in an attempt to grab it out of the air. Finally he caught it and paraded around proudly with it, then sat down to chew it and refused to relinquish it for several minutes until he was convinced the game was over.
After a short rest, it was time to head back inside to pack up again and begin the long journey back home.
The sun had come out during the game, and both girls were feeling hot and winded. They sat down on a fallen birch to catch their breath, grateful that they’d brought along a big jug of iced tea*. Jip already seemed energetic again, wagging his stubby tail and sniffing eagerly through the dead leaves. “I think he tired us out!” Nellie laughed, a little breathlessly. They sat and drank their tea, listening to the sounds of nature (and the occasional sharp bark from Jip when he saw a squirrel), reluctant to leave… but eventually they went back inside to pack and say goodbye to the Cottage.
“I hope we can come back next year!” Nellie remarked, watching the Cottage dwindle down the road behind them, before disappearing around a bend and being lost to sight.
THE END
*I realized after taking the photo that their mugs of tea look kind of like beer steins, but I promise they’re not 😅
BONUS:
(In case anyone was wondering what Samantha's finished painting looked like!)
I’m thinking of covering my poor attempt at a birch tree in the lower left with something else… a pine tree perhaps, or maybe just re-painting the trunk so it’s brown instead of white with black marks… though then I’d have to make it much darker than the surrounding dirt, to make it stand out. I’m open to suggestions!

Continued
As the dog leaps for their shoes, Kaya shouts, attempting to grab Loki by the belt to pull him away. While she was fit, she certainly wasn't built for an upper body strength moment like this. Her entire being was shaking hard with strain as they floated away from the fierce beast.
When they landed amongst the carnage of paintings, Kaya takes a knee to catch her breath. This was surely a nightmare. Rubbing her arms to ease the trembling, she looks around at the torn art and canvases. Her heart aches at the sight. Through all of it, she saw pain. What was hurting Typhoid this much to lash out? It must be unbearable if this was the reality she had made. And she had dragged Loki along with her. Kaya felt awful.
With a heaving breath, she hauls herself to her feet. Her work was not done. She had to find her mother still. Her eyes land on the fallen city. Kaya frowns and looks up at the presidential candidate. "You don't happen to sense anything here, do you?"

Elsbeth (1.07) Reactions:
Spoilers under the cut!
first episode I’ve gotten to watch live. :’) I cannot believe how fast I’ve fallen for this show.
KEEGAN MICHAEL KEY!! He’s looking so good.
I love that because elsbeth isn’t a whodunnit, the show can get away with casting insane guest stars for the culprits since it’s the “showcase role.”
It’s kind of delicious that Mr. and Mrs. Hayes are mutually down to murder akaksowkskwksosn—and in fact, it’s implied that this is far from the first time they’ve had to get rid of someone the hard way.
Relatedly, kudos to the creators and writers. all of the culprits have felt unique in their motivations, personalities, and skill sets so far.
“A long line of honorable men have worn this watch, and you desecrated it with that abominable dance.” FJSDJJS, god, Keegan is so funny.
THAT BLUE BLAZER AND PINK SHIRT!! The bucket hat!!!!
I appreciate that they’ve been consistent with having some of the detectives start to recur! Makes the show’s world start to feel lived in.
Both Donnelly and Kaya, shocked to hell: “You’re married?!”
Lol, Mr. Hayes is a sloppy murderer. He doesn’t try to look bothered at ALL.
Elsbeth housewarming party! Yay!!!
“People doing stupid stuff at a wedding—like having them! Sorry, bad divorce.” Gdkwkqkqkkw
I like how Detective Donnelly has clearly softened up a bit—she even seems a little fond of Elsbeth.
LOL @ THE BRUTAL CUT TO KEEGAN CONFESSING ABOUT THE AFFAIR ANSNSNANSNSNS. The show knew they had a comedian on their hands, and they were going to treat him well.
Ooooh, Keegan’s character knowing Claudia. Interesting.
Elsbeth’s dancing outfit!! The leg warmers!! The blue barrette!!!
Kaya and Elsbeth going out for a lady’s night!!
“A clown emoji was used.” [Cue Kaya laughing fondly.] 😭
ELSBETH NERVOUSLY TRYING TO SHUFFLE MONEY TOWARDS CAPRI HELP ME.
Ugh, love that coat on Kaya
I’m going to ignore the elsbeth would love to be Kaya’s mother-in-law quote for reasons.
Anyway, for totally unrelated reasons, do Kaya and elsbeth have a ship name yet. I’ve been calling them kayabeth in my head
Yay!! Love that Teddy’s gay.
Apparently, he doesn’t fall for kind or honest people
FJSDJDJSJ, elsbeth sticking the beer bottle near the golf cart pedal. She’s so fucking wild.
“Oh, you’re no dummy. I could tell that right away.” I love the moments when Elsbeth’s ruthlessness comes through.
The deputy(?) Dave might be the one covering up the Flair-All thing.
That rainbow sweater and the jacket Elsbeth originally had over it was a gay ass fit <3
Sorry, this case is bringing up some stuff.” Lmao, I like Donnelly. Her dryness is fun.
Omgg, Hayes and Elsbeth DANCING!! AKQKWKQOQOKSJS, Carrie Preston is a master of physical comedy
This was just an excuse to get Keegan Michael Key to dance and I love it
THAT CARTWHEEL WKWKDKWNSN
I love that they’re genuinely having fun together. One of the biggest draws of the show to me is the unique relationships that Elsbeth has with the culprits of the episodes. She’s out to get them, sure, but she takes great pains to understand them too.
THE WATCH!!!!! That was such a fun set-up.
Kaya is so fucking pretty.
The fact that she got Elsbeth a hook for all her tote bags. 🥺 A pragmatic and thoughtful gift.
OMG, THE DJ SON FROM THE SECOND EP! Nice continuity.
this apartment is goddamn gorgeous. All those windows feel very elsbeth.
WAGNER CONFRONTING HER!!!!!!! HHHHHHGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
DON’T DO THIS AT HER HOUSEWARMING PARTY!
Lieutenant Noonan… omg, I called it… but now that Wagner is saying the same thing, I’m back to the drawing board on whether I think it’s true or not yet. They’re doing a nice job of continuing to pull this tension in different directions.
This was a very fun episode. Keegan made for a great culprit, and there was a lot of awesome work in fleshing out different characters/dynamics in the main cast.
I’m so charmed by this show. 😭

RULES:
All fictional women from a category will be randomized, and put into polls
Whoever gets 50 votes automatically proceeds into the next round. There won't be only one winner for each poll!
We will do one category at the time. We'll start with books.
We'll decide on a winner of each category, and then whoever had the most votes, will proceed into the Final 10.
I'll calculate how many votes each woman got, so that at the end of the voting, you can see how many other women also adored your favourite ones :)
This also means that once you vote, if there's someone else you also want to see in the finals, you can reblog and let your followers know who already has enough votes, and who needs more in order to proceed. I'll also sometimes reblog polls announcing that a certain character has made the cut, and now others need your attention. We're trying to see which ones are loved and adored enough to actually get a lot of votes, even with competition. The voting starts at the end of nominations!

B A S I C S
Name: Ferthur Venator
Nicknames: none, unless aliases count. If they do, a lot of them. Notably, her most commonly used aliases for the past couple years have been Omori Kaya and Kasasagi.
Age: adult (I don't like to define characters by specific ages, especially with how wonky the passage of time in RP can be. But logically she's probably in her late twenties or early thirties by now. I created this character 4 years ago.)
Nameday: in game it's the 2nd sun of the 5th umbral moon. I've never RPed it.
Race: well she looks like a xaela
Gender: Female (cis)
Orientation: hetero/demisexual (eternal bonded to Eligos Venator, monogamous)
Profession: "I do what I want" (and try not to get caught). She owns an auction house now, though. That probably counts as an official job! Except it was more like the world's most over-the-top impulse buy while trying to shop for Starlight presents. She's suffering from a case of "asset rich, cash poor" at the moment as a result. That's probably going to suck when she has to pay taxes on the Omori Estate. Oops. Next BBEG: property taxes.
P H Y S I C A L A S P E C T S
Hair: White, and rather long. She doesn't wear it in a consistent way, and is instead adept at styling it many different ways to suit the outfit or occasion.
Eyes: Slitted gold
Skin: very fair, which can be a point of frustration for a lizert who would very much like to bask in the sun
Tattoos/scars: For most of her life, the very idea of any sort of permanent identifying feature was anathema to her, a potential threat to her anonymity and survival. However Eligos has slowly begun to erode these fears, and even managed to talk her into getting tattooed. A mixture of dragon scales, geometric patterns, and stylized florals now grace her right shoulder and arm, and curve along part of her hip and leg. So far she's managed to avoid any permanent scars, mostly by pulling a vanishing act when things get out of hand.
F A M I L Y
Parents: She was raised by a Doman shinobi named Harue, who told her that her father was a samurai who had perished fighting a voidsent. Unbeknownst to Ferthur, neither of these people are her birth parents. Harue is now recently deceased, and thus unable to tell her the truth of her origin.
Siblings: None that she knows of.
Grandparents: Harue's mother taught Ferthur her foundation in the arcane arts when the girl began to show an aptitude for them that Harue herself never had. Her grandmother passed away when Ferthur was a teen, leaving her to continue her arcane studies on her own. The lack of guidance went about as well as one might expect.
In-laws and Other: Eligos's parents are still alive, but they do not know Eligos is still alive, and so Ferthur has never met them.
Pets: None
S K I L L S
Abilities: Ferthur was raised by her shinobi mother, and thus was instructed in the shinobi arts from early childhood on. As she grew older, her affinity for the arcane began to show, and her focus quickly shifted to the arcane arts. Her obsession with magic brought her to some very dark places, however, and lately she has fallen back to her roots, relying mostly on the teachings of her mother to survive.
Hobbies: Dance, collecting clothing, theft and general mischief.
T R A I T S
Most Positive Trait: Highly adaptable and quick thinking on her feet, very protective of the self agency of others
Most Negative Trait: Obsessive and prone to spite beyond reason when something upsets her
L I K E S
Colors: Yes. Though to wear she prefers black and white, sometimes blue. (Why yes I did give her a magpie color scheme.) Even though she's not typically superstitious, she'll often wear red 'for luck' when she's about to do something particularly dangerous.
Smells: Jasmine, osmanthus, plum blossoms. Waterfalls and the sea. The spices and scents of the kitchen while Eligos is cooking. Sun-warmed skin and coconut.
Textures: Being buried in fuzzy blankets. Submerged in water. The touch of skin. Tracing anything with patterns or edges. The smooth softness of petals and leaves.
Drinks: Spiced tea, which she grew very fond of during her time in Ul'dah
O T H E R D E T A I L S
Smokes: Nope.
Drinks: Tea, water. Wine occasionally with dinner. The most ridiculous-sounding drink on the menu if on vacation or traveling.
Drugs: On purpose? Not usually. She's too paranoid and always needs to feel in control. Eligos has talked her into experimenting with alchemy on a couple rare occasions in a very controlled environment.
Mount Issuance: Unless a very tall viera picking her up and carrying her around because she's smol counts, not really. She doesn't own a chocobo or horse, though she does know how to ride.
Been Arrested: She came close once, but she chose murder over capture. Things got rather dicey after that for a while.
Tagged by: @wpip-raham and @starforger Thank you! Sorry it took me forever!
Tagging: anyone who wants to do the thing! This was going around maybe a month ago but I wasn't feeling well

Of Reality and Late Night Confessions (I)
Kaya fell first, Suna fell harder.
Author note: The third installment in the blurry AU where Kaya and Suna actually get closer and fall in love.
I initially envisioned this as a one-shot, then as a two chapter story, but it ended up having three chapters.
AO3 link here.
Suna feels like something has shifted between her and Kaya the morning after the conversation about his mother.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on her side; it wouldn't be the first time, after all. She's notoriously bad at reading people and even more bad at telling apart a sweet lie from the truth.
She can't even explain what is the change. It hadn't been the first time when they had kissed without actually having sex; he would ask for a kiss from her almost every night, it was something he liked to do, and she didn't really mind (far from it even). It hadn't been the first time where he had fallen asleep with his head on her chest either; it had happened once before, and she had liked it.
But there had been something in his eyes, in the way he held her, in the smile he gave her when he woke up in the morning, that made her heart beat faster and brought impossible warmth to her cheeks.
She spends the entire day in the room. It's ridiculous, really, but she can't bring herself to meet the others, not when all she wants is to see Kaya again, to make sure that she's not imagining things. She doesn't come out for dinner either; instead, she asks for a snack to be delivered to their room early in the afternoon, some fruits that she barely touches, texts Kaya that she won't appear at dinner and not to worry, and takes a warm shower, in the hopes that this will restore her calm somewhat.
She hasn't brought anything with her in the bathroom except a pair of clean underwear, so when she finishes her shower, she puts on the big towel she has used to dry herself, and goes out.
It's still early, Kaya is not back yet, and her eyes linger for a while on the clothes he has worn the previous night, neatly folded near the bed. Before she can even fully realise what she's doing, she lets the towel slip, grabs his t-shirt and puts it on. It still smells like him.
What in the world am I doing? she immediately asks herself, shaking her head and frowning at herself in the mirror. If someone were to see her right now...
But there's no one here, it's her bedroom (it was hers first, really, before he moved in), and what if she wants to try on his t-shirt? She's his wife, surely he would have no objections. He might even like it, she thinks, heart beating wildly, cheeks burning, before shaking her head again. She's really getting ahead of herself.
Revenge, revenge, Suna, remember his revenge plans. He married her for revenge and also to protect her, and he really doesn't love her. Sure, he might not pity her, she understood this the previous night, but that does not mean he has romantic feelings towards her.
She should have asked him, but she had been so caught up in the moment, first because of him finally confiding in her, then because of...
Because of her own decision to stay by his side, she realises, sitting on the bed, suddenly petrified. Because there was a moment when she decided to hell with everything, all that matters is him, and another moment in which his words sounded like love in her ears, but it wasn't him who changed.
It is her who has changed.
She actually really likes her husband.
No, to hell with it. She's probably well on her way to fall in love with him for real.
And what in the world will she do if he does not reciprocate?
Suddenly unwilling to think of anything else, she lets herself fall on the bed and covers herself with the duvet from head to toe, closing her eyes tightly and trying her best to empty her mind.
That's a problem for future her. Current Suna is simply not willing to deal with this.
*
It's already evening when she opens her eyes again, and the noise of water running in the bathroom, then suddenly stopping, is her clue that Kaya is back.
It takes her several seconds to fully wake up, and when she does, the first thing she feels is utter dread. She has fallen asleep wearing his t-shirt, and he'll probably be back in the room any second now. No use to even attempt to change her clothes.
As if on cue, the bathroom door opens, and he emerges in the room, wearing only his pyjama bottoms, and wiping off his hair with the same towel she has used earlier. She's really trying not to think about what this might or might not mean.
When he sees her peaking at him from behind the duvet, his entire expression softens, and the corners of his mouth rise up in a smile.
"Suna, you're finally awake. I was a bit worried when you didn't respond to my message, but when I came back, I saw you were asleep, and didn't want to bother you. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, uh, don't worry, I just took a nap," she responds, already hating herself for that "uh", and wondering how in the world will she ever be able to act normally around him again.
If he finds her behaviour strange, he does not comment on it. Instead, he folds the towel, setting it aside, and comes to sit on the bed, right next to her. Too close, too close, she thinks, trying to desperately pretend that she does not notice he's essentially half naked.
"Have you seen the t-shirt I wore yesterday, by the way?" he asks, and she can tell he has no clue of what she did (yet), but that doesn't stop her from blushing.
"Uh, yeah, I saw it," she manages, and he raises an eyebrow at her, evidently perplexed, even more so when she fails to elaborate.
"Are you sure you're feeling well? You're acting really weird."
Suna hides her face in her hands. Heavens, this is excruciating.
"Imwearingit", she manages to mumble, and it sounds like gibberish even to her own ears.
"Sorry?"
She kicks the duvet away in one swift motion, then raises her head, not even attempting to control her burning face any longer.
"I. Am. Wearing. It," she clarifies, and stares at him as if she would challenge him for it.
Kaya blinks once, twice, and shakes his head slightly, then another smile spreads on his face.
"Well, it suits you better than I imagined," he says. "Shows off those beautiful legs of yours quite well."
"Don't make fun of me."
He laughs, shaking his head again, then gets even closer and whispers, looking straight in her eyes:
"If you think I'm making fun of you, I'm obviously doing something wrong."
"Kaya..."
"You think I don't notice things? You know me quite well by now," he continues, a hand casually caressing one of her bare legs. "I'm noticing your blue clothes, and your short skirts, and the way you act when we're alone together. How possessive you are. And now you're even stealing my clothes. Do you want to hear a secret?"
He pauses, biting his lower lip, and looks at her with the same expression that became so familiar to her - like she's worth to be known.
"I like it," he says.
She kisses him.
It's pure impulse. It's not exactly how she envisioned the conversation. She needed to talk to him, to understand what all of this means for her, for him, for them both. But all of it felt suddenly too much; his proximity, his smell, the way he was looking at her, all of it making her feel like her heart was going to burst at any given moment.
She feels almost dizzy by the end, when they finally stop to breathe again. She feels his palm up on her leg, his fingers touching the hem of her t-shirt (his t-shirt, actually, but who can even tell at this point where she ends and he begins?) and then she hears him:
"Do you want to?"
"Yes," she says, pulling him towards her.

BLIND FAITH WILL LEAD YOU SOMEWHERE, NOT IN HEAVEN, THOUGH: A REFLECTION IN THE MOVIE "PRAYERS FOR BOBBY”
TW: mentions of suicide, blood, blade, and death.
Any LGBTQIA+ individual could relate to the movie Prayers for Bobby. The story revolves around a young gay man from a religious family who believes that homosexuality is a horrible sin against their God. After realizing that Bobby's death was a result of their ignorance toward him, Bobby's mother started advocating for LGBT rights. Bobby's mother, Mary, realized that her blinding faith prevented her from seeing how her son's situation was getting worse. Bobby was already experiencing religious trauma from his family, but her mother believed that he was ill and that God would heal him. Consequently, Bobby committed suicide.
I also experienced being a Bobby in the family. I experienced the same thing that happened to him: my sibling outed me. The only difference is that she unintentionally outed me, but the outcome was the same for both of us. My family was making homophobic remarks toward me. They started questioning my faith in God and quoting verses they believed would make me feel guilty. I felt pain in response to what they did, and a part of me thought it was because of who I am. Because I had already anticipated this picture, I assumed that I would feel numb and was hoping I would be wrong. Sadly, they are opposed to my sexuality. In the early phases of grief, I initially rejected the possibility that they might be in shock and still be processing what happened because this is not typical for them, given their religious beliefs. In the same way, Bobby did when he denied that he was possibly not gay and had fallen prey to temptation. I also had doubts about my sexuality and believed I might just be confused. Bobby was angry during the second stage of grief because his family insisted he was ill and not normal. I became distraught with myself. I was questioning why my mother was frustrated, how much my sexuality had hurt them, and other such things. Like Bobby, I read the Bible and attended church-related seminars when I was in the negotiation stage. Because I am not viewed as a heterosexual, I need to perform nice deeds for God to accept me in heaven. As I nearly killed myself with a blade when going through the depressive stage, I believe this is a sensitive subject for me. I slit my wrist and shoulders, allowing the blood to pour all over my body. Because I shut my room door, no one was able to see it, and I assume no one noticed that I had been in my room the entire day. I didn't think I was depressed at the time since I was avoiding self-diagnosis. I want to get checked out, but my parents won't let me because we can't afford to counsel. They believe it to be a financial waste. "Kaya ka nagkakaganiyan e, magdasal ka kasi." It is really tough growing up in a religious household, "Kakasama mo sa barkada mo mga ganiyan natutunan mo at nangyayari sa'yo." I also went through traumatic religious experiences, just like Bobby endured. You will always hear their irrational opinions and observe how they force their beliefs on others. Acceptance, which is the final stage, is a challenging one to get to. In my instance, I started being extremely harsh on myself mentally, emotionally, and physically. Once more, I came close to committing suicide, but I don't know why I hesitated. I've never figured out the cause, and I still don't. I just found that I was slowly coming to terms with the fact that there is nothing wrong with who I am and that I should not let anyone hurt me—including myself—just because they believe homosexuality to be a sin. I regained some of my confidence since my friends genuinely embraced me without making judgments. They are so dear to me. At my darkest hour, they did give me comfort, and I am genuinely thankful for that.
To summarize, the movie is a great representation of how one's parents' ignorance could lead to their child's death. Homophobia is still a big issue in most parts of the country since Christianity dominates the Philippines. This mindset being hard to remove to the people’s mind is the biggest challenge to the community. Being homosexual is not a sin; no one has the right to hurt a person just because of their sexuality. We humans should choose whoever we want to love without feeling any guilt. If being queer will make me go to hell, I will gladly accept my fate rather than be a hypocritical believer in God.

Irongate Masterpost
“But stories are important. They can help us begin to make sense of things we don’t yet understand… Stories can help us to escape things, or to face them. Sometimes to remember.”
As the world is poised for the dawn of a new age, Kaya Cade is finding change difficult, trapped with the bad habits and people she’d fallen into as a teenager. But sometimes the universe throws an asteroid our way, or in this case a bark-skinned hunter Kaya witnesses plucking the eyes from a victim and now seems determined to claim hers.
Another child lost, tween Tenley Tych wishes for her mother to change, but that possibility is snatched from her. Alone in the woods she finds a woman calling herself Titania who promises her the strength and power to enact revenge. But at what cost?
And outside of town stands a lighthouse, miles from any ocean. Strange, and lonely, and out of place, much like its keeper.
Soon all these threads will intertwine and the world as they knew it will end. But who knows; maybe, after the end, it will all be fine.
Many fairy tales begin with a child. Rejected, broken, orphaned, then found by a seemingly magic being that will grant them any wish. Many fairy tales, and this one is no exception. Dreams are made into reality, but with it all comes a price, terms, conditions. And dreams can become twisted into nightmares.
This is a fairy tale, but not all is as it seems.
Genres: Science Fiction, Mystery, Action, Adventure, and some Horror.

Meridiem: A mega-corp that has its claws in a range of businesses, politicians, and even have their own private military. Their headquarters is an enormous pyramid that moves about the ocean.
The Witch Way: A kind of hyperspace, but it is a realm utterly hostile to humans; if they were to find themselves within it their bodies would be twisted and annihilated while the realm’s inhabitants devour the unfortunate souls consciousness.

[female she/her] Welcome to Aurora Bay, [ZEHRA KAYA]! I couldn’t help but notice you look an awful lot like [BURCU ÖZBERK]. You must be the [TWENTY NINE] year old [ARTIST]. Word is you’re [CREATIVE] but can also be a bit [CLINGY] and your favorite song is [BOYFRIEND BY DOVE CAMERON]. I also heard you’ll be staying in [CRYSTAL COVE CONDOMINIUMS]. I’m sure you’ll love it! [Squishy, 30+, NZST, she/her, cancer] *Esma Demirci ex-best friend/lover WC*
Triggers: Abandonment, death, cheating, divorce, abuse
Zehra began life in Turkey, she was born there but soon moved to California. Her parents needed somewhere to go so they went to Aurora Bay because it seemed like the right move for the family at the time. Zehra did work hard in school trying to get herself to a point where she was doing well in school but her attention span wasn’t the best and it resulted in her always getting behind and unable to catch up. Not long after her thirteenth birthday, her parents announced they were getting divorced, instead of taking it well Zehra kept making disappearances and finding ways to hide.
Eventually, it came to a point where she had to decide who to live with and she chose her father, however, he wasn’t coping well with the divorce, and ended up drinking himself to death. Zehra at the time was sixteen, and she had no idea what to do, so she rang the emergency number after finding her father and she was relocated to live with her mother.
Zehra throughout all of this had found a sweet, kind boy who treated her like a princess. He gave her all she could ever need and he also let her stay over when she needed room to get away from all the family drama. It didn’t help that Esma, the best friend who was staying there at the time was starting to look nicer and she found herself being more attracted to her boyfriend's best friend than her own boyfriend. Zehra tried her hardest to resist, wanting to make sure that she wasn’t going to hurt her boyfriend, but at the end of the day she had fallen for Esma, and there was nothing she could do to change that.
Their little affair went on for two years, and the sneaking was exhausting, she had been planning on telling her boyfriend the truth about what was happening but she always found herself delayed and never able to find the right moment. The night her boyfriend died he had offered to give her a ride home because he was going past, but she wasn’t ready to face her family again. She spent the night buried in Esma’s arms, finding comfort in being together with her. When she heard the news every shred of guilt and resentment washed over her and while she tried her best to face it, when Esma ran she couldn’t help but feel even more guilt, and she now had to face it all alone.
Her boyfriends family all worked hard to try and support Zehra, the funeral was the hardest part, she had to pretend nothing had happened and that she wasn’t in love with his best friend that disappeared. Zehra tried her best to get herself to a steady, healthy point, but everything she tried was met with pain and another closed door. She put all the pain and guilt she felt into painting, ending up making some beautiful distressed-looking paintings that put her name on the map when it came to the art world. She continued her work on her paintings, getting to a point where she was perfecting the style that she had built up for so long.
Eventually she took time away from the bay, choosing to take the time to perfect her art and take on a few extra jobs, one of which was sign writing for businesses, it’s where she met someone who she really did fall for very quickly. It was a whirlwind romance, with her being lovebombed and then he began cutting her off from her friends and family, slowly working his way into her mind and then when she would try to cut things off he would correct his behaviour and be good for a month or two. This continued for a few months and it was right back to before. She found out she was pregnant a few months into the relationship after he had been replacing her birth control with placebos. She got stuck in this loop again, staying until the baby was born. But it took him laying his hands on her before she finally left him and took their baby with her.
She moved back to the bay a month ago, still stuck and struggling to make it through the rough patch. She’s been using the pain to make more art, and she’s still worried about meeting anyone in any capacity other than friends. She’s still longing to meet up with Esma again because she wants to get an explanation and perhaps catch up again to where they used to be. She's confused on how to be the best mother she can, but she's trying to do her best for her baby.

What I am gonna do Part 5
Summary: When everything has been ruined and fallen in rubles around you, or at least it seems so. When all hope has been lost and there is no way out of hell. Is there a way to end all this pain? Is there a way to shake off the dust and start building something new?
Can also read it on AO3.
Kazim never thought he would end up in jail, especially to be put here by his own daughter. He expected that from Seyran but Suna seemed to always take what he served her. It must be those Sönmez’s poisoning her mind. He was just doing his job as a father to have two perfect daughters. He has been here for a few days and tried to stay low. Kazim was lucky to be in a different jail from Ferit’s father. It was breakfast time. He sat down where he could hide but still see others moving around the hall.
Suddenly this group of inmates were moving in his direction. Kazim could feel his heart beating faster and faster. This must be how the fear feels.
“Are you Kazim Şanlı?” asked one of the bigger inmates who by the looks of it was the leader of this group. Could they already know why he is here? Could they be sent to him by Suna? No, his daughter wouldn't choose such brutal punishment. This already was his punishment from her. To sit in the cell for the rest of his life. She was righteous like that.
“Who is asking?” Kazim answered it with a question of his own. It seemed to confirm it for the group. He was picked up by the scruff of his shirt like a kitten, pulling him in the hallway where there was a blind spot for cameras. The first hits came to his chest, not hard enough for him to bruise, but hard enough to stop his lungs from pulling the air in them, and then there were a few heavy handed slaps. It continued for some time till a man holding him up let him go. Kazim crumbled on the floor, pulling himself in embryo position to protect his chest from more hits. “This is welcome to hell from Suna’s friends!” triumphantly said the bigger man, ending it by spitting on Kazim. Kazim has never felt more violated. Knowledge that this was only the beginning put the fear of God in the man on the floor. “A man who hits women is no man at all.”
*****
It was a presentation of Kaya’s company and jewelry collection. New beginning for Sönmez family name. Suna couldn’t be more proud of her husband. It has been two weeks since she had left the clinic and she was in court to put the past behind her. There were more court hearings but inspector Demirci said it will be enough with this one and final hearing. Their case was air tight.
“Penny for your thoughts?” said Kaya, making Suna jump a little. She had been too deep in her thoughts.
“I was just thinking how fast everything changed once again. Quite scary, if you ask me.”
“Don’t think about it today, Suna. Enjoy this party because this is also for you, darling.” Kaya told her, pressing a kiss to her forehead. That is when she noticed that he was wearing her made chain. Since she came out of the clinic, she has been restless with all the energy she didn’t know where to put. So Kaya had taken the matters in his own hands and patiently taught her how to make some jewelry pieces. Suna enjoyed just being able to focus on creating something beautiful. Her husband proudly wore every piece she created for men. Suna had made a bracelet for her mother in law. This time presenting Nükhet with it went so much better. She was wearing it today, too. Suna was wearing earrings and a pendant from this collection.
Jewelry making was the first step for Suna to find what she wants to do in the future. She always thought she would be a housewife like her mother but that never sat with her well. So with support from people around her, Suna started looking and going to different courses. Her choice fell on teaching kids languages. By next semester she will start university for it, but she could give individual lessons to doctor Ildis' daughter. She loved the feeling of passing knowledge down to the next generation.
“This party ends and we will leave for our honeymoon. I will think about that.” said Suna, playing with the chain she had made. It was her latest work and showed the improvement she had made.
“Yes, finally we will have our honeymoon. We for sure deserve it. Just the two of us, ocean and cocktails.”
“Sounds amazing. I hope the happy hour will continue in our bedroom.” Suna voiced her thoughts, winking at her husband.
“Suna! Don’t tease me before I have to go on stage.”
“Oops! I didn’t expect that I would have such an effect on you.”
“My dear wife, that is a lie. You know well what effect you have on me.” Kaya said, his eyes twinkling with fire. That was a promise of a good time when they finally reach their final destination. Someone called out Kayas name. “I have to get on stage but I need something from you before I go.”
“What do you need?”
“A good luck kiss.”
“I can do that.” Suna whispered, pressing a kiss to her husband's cheek. Kaya didn’t look impressed. “You just told me not to tease you. So get on that stage and then you will get a proper kiss.”
“You drive me insane, woman.”
“Pleasure is all mine, my husband.”
They both smirked at each other. The man again called Kaya and this time he left Suna, walking fastly to the stage. He looked so natural with all the attention on him. Kaya was basking in it.
“Welcome to the opening of a new family owned jewelry business and collection. I want to say thank you to all the people that supported and put their trust into this business. I hope I and this brand live up to your expectations.” Kaya stated, taking a deep breath before continuing. “The name of this collection is “Survivors”. It is dedicated to two strongest women in my life - my mom and wife. They showed me each day how much strength women possess. It may be our male duty to protect women but we have to appreciate their inner strength that also protects us. Also half of the earnings from each sale will go to crisis centers for women that have been abused. That is all. Enjoy the rest of the evening!”
Suna had tears in her eyes. Someone squeezed the palm of her hand. She looked to the right to see it being her mother in law who also had shine in her eyes with unshed tears. Suna really could not explain how this trust and support has grown between her and Nünkhet and it seemed to come from both sides of her. Nünkhet was becoming the mother figure that Suna never had in Esme. Even the “evil” side didn’t throw snide comments at her anymore. It seems like Suna, by putting Korhans behind bars, had soothed the other side of her personality. More like Nünkhet didn’t need to be afraid anymore, so she didn’t need this strong front.
She and Sehmuz would be joining her and Kaya on the third week of their honeymoon. Nünkhet had told Kaya about her end being near. Kaya had exploded, rushing out of the house. Suna had found him in the garden on his knees, his whole body shaking with sobs. She just sat next to him, rubbing his back up and down. That night, in the garden, under summer clear skies full with stars, Kaya opened up about his fears, about why he lashed out when there was the possibility of Suna leaving him. Suna saw her own reflection staring at her from the things he was telling her. So she opened up herself, telling all about the abuse and loneliness she endured, about the mind games that people played with her. There they came to the conclusion that they should have more talks like this, but also that Nünkhet deserves to live her last months being surrounded by her loved ones. Kaya told her how his mom had always wanted to road trip around Italy and France to try the best of foods. That is how Suna ended up planning this road trip for their family.
“Are you two okay?” asked Sehmuz, who seemed to be worried about two women with tears in their eyes. Kaya also caught the question, who had made his way to them from the stage.
“Yes, just my son making us emotional with his speech tonight.”
“Good thing I am wearing waterproof mascara.” said Suna, trying to lighten the mood. It was evening to celebrate as Kaya himself had said. All four laughed and clinked the glasses.
“To us!” affirmed Sehmuz, making them clink the glasses once again. “You, youngsters, can slip away and get ready for your flight. Me and your mother will hold the front for you.”
He didn’t need to say that twice to Kaya and Suna. They put down the glasses, and briskly walked to the door of the gallery where the event took place. Kaya turned to Suna and asked her: “Are you ready for this next phase with me?”
“As I wrote to you in the hospital, with you by my side, I can fight anyone and anything. It still stands. So, Kaya Sönmez, take me on this next journey of ours.”
“Your wish is my command, my dear wife.”

👨👩👧-Aaron you say
Ah, yes, her ex-mistake. Folding her arms across her torso, Kaya sharply exhales.
“…so you wanna know about my ex, huh?” Like many of the things and people in here life… where to start is always the question. Frankly, she’d rather avoid talking about him every chance she gets. But the inbox has to be appeased, and it’s not like Frisk is around at the moment anyway…
Kaya huffs, her arms folding tighter as her glare grows sharper from the ugly, distasteful memories coming back to her again, as they always do.
“…Okay, sit down and shut up, it’s a long-ass story, and I’m only gonna tell it once.”
“It all started with a stupid teenager doing stupid teenage things because her parents were terrible at their jobs and knew nothing about having a disabled kid,” she starts with a slight sneer.
“I came out of my mom’s snatch kicking and screaming, and stayed kicking and screaming for years. Then, around elementary school, they introduced ABA therapy. I was emotionally and mentally abused all through elementary and middle school, and became a terrified, depressed shell of a kid who would do, say, and repress anything I had to just to make my parents happy. So they wouldn’t yell at me or grab me or take away something vital to my mental health.”
“Then high school came around, I’d just hit puberty, and I decided I’d had enough to being bullied by my own parents, my teachers, and the other students, and I became an A-grade bitch to everyone. Just to try to give myself control and empowerment in my life, I went from one extreme to another. I was a dumb, emotionally repressed teenager who jumped back to being a rebel, so I did a lot of shitty things. I had anger issues, was violent, and hung out with a lot of bad kids. I didn’t bully anyone, really, but I got into a lot of fights and only barely avoided getting arrested from vandalism and underage drinking a lot. Smoke weed a lot too. I was a rotten kid, but… honestly, it felt better than letting people grab my hands, shake me, yell at me and push my around… I was 14 and stupid, sue me.”
“Yeah, I make it sound like Aaron was one of the bad ones, but he was actually one of the only decent kids in high school at the time. He came from a pretty well-off family and kinda took pity on me. He wasn’t scared of me like some of the other kids, but he didn’t really pick a fight with me either. He was a good kid at the time, or at least that was the impression I got as a dumb, naive fourteen-year-old. He was nice to me, gave me rides home when I felt scared to call my parents, hung out with me, got me out of weed, booze and crime, talked to me, listened… He was good to me. Not sure whether that was genuine and he turned into an asshole or if he was always an ass trying to get into my pants, but it doesn’t matter. He’s a dick now.”
“I fell hard for the guy, being the idiot teenager I was. I was convinced that he was an angel there to save me from my shit-hole situation. Needless to say, we… did the deed. A LOT, actually. And finally, of course, we conceived Frisk when I was 15, had them when I was 16. Of course my parents weren’t happy, but that worked out for me because I hated them at the time. Was under the mindset if they hated it, I was doing something right. But even my grandmother, who was the only other decent person in my life, was voicing concerns about how fast I was jumping into things. And… like a dumbass, I ignored her. I was…”
Her glare finally falters and her face falls. As dumb as she always remembers she was in hindsight, she could never deny that she really did love the guy back in the day. At the time, he’d saved her, as far as she was concerned…
“I was in love… I… really thought he was my soulmate. So… I moved in with him after Frisk was born, and at first, everything was just great. I just stayed home with Frisk while he went to work, and we got married a week after I turned 18. But… once we made it legal and I was actually tied to him, things… started changing.”
“He never wanted to actually take care of Frisk. They were like a cute commodity to him; he never wanted to feed them, change their diapers, put them down for their nap, or look after them after daycare, it was ALWAYS on ME. Which I mean, fine, I didn’t wanna work and was controlling and protective over Frisk. But he never picked up the slack at home, he just went out to work, went drinking with his work buddies, and came home with dinner eventually.”
“And it just… got worse. No matter how stressed or sick I was, he’d never pick up the slack. He just enjoyed the perks and fun parts of fatherhood without trying to put in any actual work. Which I always justified with him being the breadwinner and being tired all the time. But when we learned Frisk was autistic when they were three…”
“He completely. Fucking. Abandoned them. All of a fucking SUDDEN, he had zero patience for just about anything Frisk ever did. Completely ignored them, got impatient with them whenever they started stimming–which, you know, I got onto him about. We fought a lot, and Frisk would always start crying because he’d convinced them our marriage problems were THEIR fault! Because I wasn’t going to let him snap at Frisk over shit they couldn’t help as a fucking four year old!”
“He deteriorated over two years’ time since we found out Frisk was autistic; he did his best to be good to me despite his mental shit, but he wanted absolutely nothing to do with Frisk. He was a pathetic shitstain of a human being. He started coming home late, getting drunk, we fought just about every goddamn day, and he kept getting onto Frisk, trying to make them be like me. ‘Your mom was like you and she learned how to be normal, why the fuck can’t you listen and learn to be normal–’ Like, asshole, do you even know me?! Since when have I ever been normal?! All that shit he sold me about accepting me as I was turned out to be bullshit.”
“I tried so hard to make it work, I tried to patch things up between me, Aaron and Frisk for years… I’d always been able to wrangle him in whenever he started yelling at Frisk, help them sort things out, and most of the time, he’d apologize… but the second he actually put his hands on them - grabbing their hands to make them stop stimming when they were crying, hard enough to bruise them, just after they turned five - I shut the whole thing down right then and there. I knew where this was gonna go and I wasn’t gonna see it through with Frisk. I wasn’t gonna let Frisk go through a worse version of what I went through.”
“In hindsight… I should have shut everything down when he started neglecting them. That’s just as much abuse as putting your hands on a kid is… but I was delusional. I was selfish… and wanted to make my relationship with the man he used to be work. But no matter how much I may have still loved him… I wasn’t gonna let him put his hands on my child a second time. Yeah, we fought physically and we damn near killed each other… pretty sure I scarred Frisk with that, but… ya know. I won, and now that prick knows better than to show his face around me or Frisk ever again.”
“There’s… a lot I should have done differently back then; a lot I should have done for Frisk’s sake. I know I wasn’t the best parent in the world for them at the time. I put my relationship before their wellbeing at the time, even if I didn’t realize it, and to be honest… I’ll be ashamed of myself for that ‘til the day I die. It shouldn’t have had to escalate to physical violence for me to wake the fuck up and get Frisk and me out of there, but it did…”
“So… it’s just me and Frisk now, and even though I had to step up and find work out of nowhere, start being the breadwinner AND the child rearer while still having shit support from my ‘told-you-so’ing family… we’re better off without that asshole in our lives. I know there are a lot of people who… might be better for Frisk, as a parent, but… I still wanna do the best I can for them and their future little sibling now that I know better.”
“And if that prick shows up again, this baby’s gonna have to deal for five seconds so I can suplex the dickweed. Not that he really would, he already only begrudgingly pays child support, but… ya know. Always good to be prepared. So yeah. I hate my ex’s fucking guts and I was an idiot for ever marrying him.”
“The end. Any questions?”

pangarap; a darlentina one-shot
The office is dim with half of the floor lights turned off, her co-workers long gone—leaving her with nothing but silence as her company.
Narda has recently learned to treasure rare pockets of peace like these. With the double duty of an EMT and moonlighting as the city's heroine, finding time just for herself has been few and far in-between as of late.
Sometimes, she thinks these are the kinds of consequences her mother could have prepared her for, had she been alive long enough to train her. If Leonor hadn't died, would Narda be having as much trouble learning the trials and errors of being a hero? Would it have been at least a bit easier?
Maybe.
Maybe she wouldn't be staying alone after office hours just to get a little reprieve from the loudness of Nueva Esperanza. Maybe she wouldn't even be here, reading anatomy books in the dark, pretending she's a pre-med student. Maybe she would have had an actual shot in college.
Maybe-
"Working hard much?"
Narda jumps at the voice, the book slipping from her grasp and making a solid thud as it hits the floor.
She turns her head to look at the intruder, and almost jumps out of her seat again at the close proximity of one Regina Vanguardia leaning over her shoulder.
"Oh my god, Narda, sorry kung nagulat kita," Regina apologizes, instantly moving around Narda's chair to collect the fallen book.
Her heart is beating a mile a minute out of her chest, lips opening and closing like a fish out of water.
"Here." Regina thrusts the book at her, and it isn't until that moment Narda realizes she hasn't spoken a word.
"Sorry, again. If I startled you," Regina says, and she looks so ethereal in the dim lighting of the office like this. Her hair framing her face perfectly, and oh, words. Narda needs to speak words. Now, if possible.
"Pauwi na rin kasi ako, but natanaw ko na may bukas pa na ilaw so I came to check it out, and well," Regina shrugs, smiles softly at her, "-didn't expect to find you."
Regina's eyes sparkle as she looks down at Narda, still frozen in her chair.
Words, Narda. Salita. Bibig. Now na, dali.
"Oh, uhm naku," Narda fumbles, "'wag po kayo mag-sorry, ah eh, nagcacatch up lang po 'ko sa mga reading ma'am. Alam nyo na para laging prepared."
Wow, Narda, isang buong sentence 'yun ah. Congrats.
"That's Seeley, right?" Regina gestures at the thick textbook at her hands, and Narda finds herself nodding.
Yes, it is Seeley, and the textbook cost her almost 3,000 and a chestful of guilt for buying it for herself. She kept thinking she should've just given the money for Ding's allowance. What was the point in buying such an expensive book anyway if she wasn't even going to college?
"Sipag ah, extra-reading?" Regina teases, "The program doesn't give off Seeley books e. As far as I know, instructional packets lang noh? Maybe we should change that, huh? Baka if ganun your colleagues can be as good an EMT as you."
Narda flushes, hoping the darkness doesn't let Regina see the redness in her cheeks. Because phew! Did she just receive another compliment from Regina? She's still not used to that. That someone as esteemed, as beautiful, as powerful as Regina, takes the time to pay notice and sing praises to someone like her.
"Oh, uhm- opo, ma'am, 'di po toh sa program, akin po toh."
"Ah." Regina nods, and maybe it's the late hour, the kindness in Regina's eyes and the adrenaline rush of her sudden presence that Narda finds herself saying, "Gusto ko pa kasi maging doktor e. Kaso, mahal mag-PreMed. Kaya eto na lang muna, basa-basa na lang."
"I didn't know you were into Med?"
"Ay opo, ma'am, science nerd po ako growing up e," Narda finds herself laughing a bit as she admits it, "tas si nanay pa, EMT, lagi syang nagkwekwento ng mga interesting na medical cases. Kaya ayun, parang nagustuhan 'ko mag-doktor."
She used to join science quiz bees, and she was good at it, too. She remembers the look on her mother's face whenever she won. Remembers Ding's awe when she would recite the Krebs Cycle and the enzymes in Glycolysis with ease. Biology fascinated her in a way nothing else did, and becoming a doctor meant getting to use her love for science to help people.
"I didn't know that," Regina comments, utter fascination and curiosity in her eyes, and Narda finds herself getting lost in them. Regina tugs a nearby office chair with her foot, perches on it and crosses her legs. She's all smooth movements and grace.
"E pano nyo po malalaman, ma'am? Ngayon lang tayo nagkwentuhan," Narda jokes, and she takes delight in the way Regina chuckles at her. She feels like she's won the battle here somehow, and her reward is Regina's smile and intoxicating presence.
"Tsk," Regina clicks her tongue, and it shouldn't be as hot as it is, but it is. Narda swallows."I thought napag-usapan na natin na you shouldn't call me ma'am anymore, just call me-"
"Regina," Narda finishes for her, savoring the way the syllables drag along her tongue. Relishing the taste of her name—it's sweet, she likes it.
"Good. Exactly." Regina beams at her.
Narda lets out a breathless laugh, before sucking in a breath, and asking, "Ikaw Regina? Pagiging attorney na ba talaga pinangarap mo?"
A mischievous look crosses Regina's face, and she surprises Narda when she says, "No, actually, I wanted to be a rockstar."
Wow.
"Wow? Rockstar? Regina the Rakista?"
Regina laughs, a sweet little melodic thing ringing in the silent office.
"Yes, yes, I mean as you can tell from the bleached hair, I had a Hayley Williams phase...and an Avril Lavigne phase." She twirls one curl around her finger, and Narda is endlessly fascinated by the gesture.
"Kitchie Nadal ma'am?"
Regina just raises an eyebrow at her and Narda realizes her mistake, recalibrates.
"Kitchie Nadal, Regina?"
"Ikaw, gusto mo lang ata makarinig ng sample ng 'Bulong' e."
"E kung willing ka naman sumample, ma'- Regina, diba? Why not?" She doesn't know where she's getting the bravery to banter with her so boldly like this, she wonders if this is some leftover Darna confidence, or if Regina just really brings out the best in her. The latter seems more likely.
"Haha, maybe some other time.” Regina leans back in her chair, relaxes and crosses her arms across her chest, “But yes, I wanted to be an artist. A musician. But well, I think you of all people know that minsan, things change, life happens."
And yes, Narda does know.
"Ah, naiintindihan ko nga 'yan."
"I mean- not that I don't like being a lawyer, I like my job. I like what I do. Gusto ko na nakikita kong nakakatulong ako sa mga tao. Baka, 'di ko man mabago ang mundo, but it wouldn't hurt if I managed to change a few lives noh?"
Woosh. Pucha. Nahulog na. In-lababo na si Narda.
Narda wants to know more, wants to ask more, wants to know what it is exactly she meant when she said, things change, life happens. She wants to know everything—anything. But the silence that follows Regina's words seems to be here to stay.
So, she clears her throat and she says, "Well, ma'am-" Regina pointedly stares at her when she says that, and Narda laughs, shakes her head. "Regina," she corrects, and in the sincerest voice she can muster, murmurs, "Ako na mismo magsasabi sa 'yo, binago mo buhay ko."
She reaches out her hand, dares to put it over Regina's and squeezes. The air is charged. She can feel it somehow, this moment is important. This is something she will re-play in her mind again and again, see in her dreams night after night. It's like the cliff all over again. But the funny feeling in her chest doesn't feel like fear this time, nothing in her feels afraid of falling, because Regina turns her hand, palm up and catches her fingers in hers.
And oh, that's what flying feels like.

❥︎𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒑 𝑰 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔, and Fairytales and Love stories, all those childish bullshit.
I had a pretty decent childhood, until I was ten. I discovered my first condom at that age, and had my parents lecture me for one hour about sex, and how boys are bad and pregnancy, you know the normal shit.
After that puberty hit. And that motherfucker hit harder than any fucking thing anyone has been hit with.
Boys started looking at me differently because my boobs were bigger and my waist was getting a little curvier, so I started wearing these baggy ass clothes that could barely fit me so you could barely make out my figure. But of course there was assholes who were just so fucking obsessed with seeing a part of the human female anatomy.
Assholes like Nate fucking Jacob.
The asshole who pulled down my pants infront of the whole classroom while I bended down to pick up my rubber that had fallen off my desk, a low whistled sounding from him as he stared at my ass. The whole class started laughed, like it was funny that he had just violated me like that, anyways
He ended up in the nurses office with a broken nose and a black eye that day, and I ended up with suspension. And that's how I made my first ever friend.
Rue Bennett. A curly haired girl who lived right down the street from me.
"I heard you gave Nate Jacobs a broken nose."
Pressing your lips together your eleven year old self side-eyed her as you leaved on your fence, "What about it?"
The brown eyes girl had a huge grinon her face, as she looked at you with stars in her eyes, "That's fucking cool, dude!"
After that day the two of us were inseperable, that two becoming a three as Lexie Howard came along. Those days were the best years of my life.
I don't think I could ever be as excited as I was when I found out I had another baby sister on the way. Rubbing my ma's belly, me and Kaya singing to her every night with a huge smiles on our faces. The thought of having a little sibling excited me so me and her so much we made a journal about all the list of things we would do together.
Now on the day my sister came, my mother didn't come back.
Not as in she walked out on us, as in she died during delivery. I didn't know what to feel to be fair, I wasn't angry, but I wasn't happy or sad. But I had to be the strong one here, for Kaya, who was confused and frightened at everything that was going on.
Though it felt like I should I didn't blame my little sister for my mamas death, my father was a different story though.
"I-i don't want it! That-that thing killed my wife, m-my wifes, she's gone because of it!"
"Daddy don't say that infront of Kaya" He didn't listen though, and it was so bad I had to cover Kayas ears as she sobbed in my shirt.
Out of everyone my father was the one mamas death affected the most, from my point of view. He started drinking, not to the point where he had to quit his job or anything but you could tell he was addicted.
A few months after my ma's death, we moved.
I pleaded and begged with him not to let us move, but he didn't even spare me a side-eye just walking away with a, "We're moving, and that shit's finally, Angel."
of course my first thought was to tell Rue and Lexie right away, and that's exactly what I did while rocking Asimo in my arms as they looked at me with sad eyes, "I'll come back. I promise I will."
That was fucking stupid now that I think about it, I was just and eleven year old blinded by the little hope she had left. But maybe it wasn't so fucking stupid.
Because as I rub the sleep out of my eyes, I realized that I was back, back to where my life had started to fall right the fuck apart.
Back in Eastland.
